Back in October 2014 we looked at the case of Danielle Watson, the bride to be who had pretended to have cancer in order to pay for her wedding. The case had been adjourned for sentence until 9th January 2015. We gave two ways that it would probably shake down : 18-24 months in prison or 12-18 months suspended, depending on what view the Judge took.
We won’t go into the background detail of the offending (it’s in the previous post) but the headline figure is that she got 12 months, suspended for 2 years on the condition of completing 200 hours unpaid work.
The Judge stated that she “showed a supreme lack of maturity“, so the actual outcome is unsurprising given that. A salutary lesson learned by Ms Watson.
