We covered the case of Basharat Ditta, a Manchester solicitor who was convicted of perverting the course of justice and sentenced to three years in November 2013.

On 2nd February 2016 the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeals against conviction and sentence. It’s worth reading, not just because it’s often nice to see the legal side behind the human story, but it will often give us more facts, and a more accurate summary of what happened.

    1. If he was sentenced in November 2013… Isn’t this a long time for the appeal? Surely 3 years sentance means he was out on licence in May 2015?

    2. Presumably he was appealing for the purpose of not getting struck off as a solicitor then or just to try and “clear his name” (or both I guess)?
